Internships / WWOOF
Are you an Ag major? Or, just crazy about Alternative Farming? Or, just crazy? Do you like hard work, no pay, long hours, and to be miles from nowhere? Great ...I do too!
Red Dog Ranch™ accepts interns / WWOOFers during the months of: May-October. At Red Dog Ranch™, interns are assigned very simple sleeping arrangements in exchange for 5 days of work per week. (Sunrise to Sunset) Intern work is hard, and is typically a mix of dirt farming, farm maintenance, bee keeping, and many other exciting things.
You'll learn chemical-free farming techniques, chemical-free pest control, chemical-free weed control, how to safely operate farm equipment, irrigation techniques, construction, plasticulture, selling, marketing...my god, the list goes on and on! I will try to teach you everything I've learned, and maybe you can teach me a few things!
On the secluded banks of the Gualala River, interns share a common camping area with an open kitchen area, fire-pit, solar shower, and a pit-prevy. Your food will come from the field...but, I'll buy the steaks and beer after Farmers Market on Saturdays. Sunday & Mondays are free.
You'll need to bring a tent, sleeping bag, clothes, personal items, some reading material, and you're set. Weekly trips to town are scheduled and email is available in town. Cell service is rare. Bus service to/from the area is available twice a day. San Francisco is 4 hours to our South. (You will be returning to nature.)
Red Dog Ranch™ accepts 2-3 interns a year. For you to be considered for our internship program, please write me an email and explain why you are the one. Feel free to be creative.
